Who says dyeing your hair has to stop at your head?
We’ve seen enough of those DIY shows on cable to know that there are quick and easy ways to redo any area and make it seem like a whole new living space. Often, it just takes a splash of color.
Using that DIY principle to freshen up a space that has — how can we put this — lost its “new-ness,” there are a couple of products on the market to help you add a splash of color to your hair-down-there. You might even try it as a Halloween “trick” for your significant other.
Available at spas, online and at more and more pharmacies across the U.S., BettyBeauty ($15.99) is a dye formulated especially for pubic hair. And you’d be surprised at who’s using it. According to a recent article in Forbes, less than 5% of the customer base is in the 18 to 25-year-old demographic, and “half lived in non-urban zones like Nebraska, Washington and Arkansas.”
Arkansas? Apparently they’re thumpin’ more than Bibles down there.
We haven’t checked all the ingredients, but the website ensures safety. The recipe for the dye sounds downright edible with “elder flower, cherry bark, chamomile, comfrey, black walnut, rosemary and aloe.“ They also boast a “no-drip crème formula” that won’t run into your nethers. Men and women alike are using it – to cover gray, add an element of surprise and brighten the view.
BettyBeauty comes in the traditional browns and blondes, but also funky options like hot pink, aqua blue, and auburn, which the website features front and center for fall and Halloween.
Its growing success is not lost on competitors. BettyBeauty has spawned several rivals, including Smart Bikini Colour (which it is suing for copying its directions and logo), and a couple of overseas companies: Gigi Colour Down Under and MiniKini.
For matrons and manscapers – here’s something new you can try. As we know, it will always grow out.
