Coffee Mate
You are more than likely getting more caffeine in your diet than you think! More than 140 skin care products containing caffeine were introduced in the U.S. in 2006, in everything from soaps to thigh thinners. There’s no clear scientific evidence that caffeine makes a big difference in looking good, but in a recent study, researchers found that found that in cells damaged by UV rays, caffeine interrupted a certain protein and caused the damaged cells to self-destruct – thereby suggesting that caffeine might be a cancer killer. Dr. Paul Nghiem, an associate professor of dermatology at the University of Washington in Seattle, says “We have found what we believe to be the mechanism by which caffeine is associated with decreased skin cancer,” said lead researcher in an article published on BusinessWeek.com. Nghiem has been experimenting with applying caffeine directly to the skin with the hope it might lead to a topical method of prevention.
It only follows that killing off the dangerous cells would kill off the aging spots, too, right? Do you have age spots? What do you use?
